This workforce training program is a workforce initiative designed for out of school youth ages 16-24 to gain skills needed for employment. We run the program in cooperation with the Workforce Investment Board of Westmoreland and Fayette Counties. Our youth gain on-the-job training and experience needed to be successful. There are online classes and instructional classes. We work with East End United Community Center to provide Cultural Competency Training and Intermediate Unit to provide GED assistance, if needed, as well. We train the youth for Aquatics, Facilities, and work at the Welcome Center. Participants in the program can get free First Aid/CPR/AED training, free Lifeguard training, and free Wilderness First Aid training as a part of the program. We also help youth attain a GED and provide social support if needed. Youth work in a supportive, encouraging, safe environment and are provided with a foundation for good work habits and the development of strong communication skills.
