The Uniontown Area YMCA is looking for a Welcome Center Assistant to join our team at the Front Desk.  Our ideal candidate is attentive, punctual, friendly, and engaged.

Welcome Center Job Description (Toggle to Open)

Position:

 

Evening Weekday shifts, Part-time, 4 to 6 hour shifts, 2 to 4 days a week for a total of ~ 10 to 20 hrs per week, year-round employment

 

Opening Weekday shifts, Part-time,, 3 to 5 hour shifts, 2 to 4 days a week for a total of ~ 5 to 15 hrs per week, year-round employment

 

Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner
  • Answer, attend to and transfer phone calls
  • Encourage and explain membership and participation
  • Take registrations and payments
  • Maintain office cleanliness and organization
  • Assist with basic administrative tasks

Qualifications:

  • Friendly and outgoing personality
  • Knowledge of computers and ability to learn operating systems
  • Excellent customer service skills and courteous phone manner
  • Time-management, organizational and multitasking skills
  • Experience working at front desk or similar position, preferred but not required

Swim Instructor Job Description – Uniontown Area YMCA

Position Summary
Provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes. To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Essential Functions
1. Instructs swimming lessons as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly.
2. Develops positive relationships with members and participants and provides motivational support and guidance.
3. Encourages member and parent involvement.
4. Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate refers members and participants to other programs.
5. Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.).
6. Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
7. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
8. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
9. Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
10. Trains and supervises class aides as assigned.

Lifeguard Job Description – Uniontown Area YMCA

Position Summary
Delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. Responds to member and guest needs, promotes memberships and programs, and maintains cleanliness and organization of the pool deck.

Essential Functions
1. Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y.
2. Builds positive relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA.
3. Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
4. Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
5. Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.
6. Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
7. Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff.
8. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
9. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
10. Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
11. Attends all staff meetings and in-service training.

Qualifications

4. Minimum age of 15.
5. Reliable transportation.
6. Ability to maintain certification-level or physical and metal readiness.
