Instructional Soccer
Instructional Soccer will return in fall of 2023!
This program, for youth ages 4 to 7, and 8 to 11 will focus on helping each of the players learn and practice soccer skills. The Program will provide instruction, drills, and scrimmage games to help the players develop. We will strive to keep the program fun, low stress, and encouraging. We want to improve soccer skills, teach and promote good sportsmanship, and help each player have fun playing sports.

• Players will need rubber soccer cleats or athletic shoes and comfortable sportswear.
• Practices will be outside! Proper attire is recommended including soccer cleats.
• If bad weather occurs, practices will be held in the Gym
Instructional T-Ball
Starting May 2023
Instructional t-ball for building and refining foundational concepts and drills. This is not a competitive league. We want to improve skills, teach and promote good sportsmanship, and help each player have fun playing sports.
Tuesdays starting in May.
4:00pm-4:45pm Tiny Tots (ages 3-5)
4:45pm-5:30pm Big Kids (ages 6-11) .
*Must bring your own glove.

Instructional Basketball
Instructional Basketball will return in fall of 2023!
This developmental basketball program is designed for kids ages 4-7 and 8-11. The program helps kids develop basic basketball skills including dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense. By learning the basics of basketball, the kids can enjoy the sport by having fun and becoming better players. Kids leave the program confident and ready to join a team!

Gymnastics Team

Whether you’re a beginner or a competitive gymnast, the Y program is for you! Come participate in a competitive atmosphere which keeps in mind that children need to develop in spirit, mind, and body. Please note that team participation requires a YMCA membership and also a minimum skill level.
Program Fees: (Must Be A YMCA Member To Participate)
$115 per month. Sorry, fee is not pro-rated for missed times.
$100 per month/per child for each additional child.

Pre Team: Instruction designed to prepare girls whose goal is to compete on the Hiflyers competitive team. Please see the coach for further details.

Instructional Gymnastics
The Uniontown Area YMCA offers instructional gymnastics classes for all kids of all ages and skill level. The classes focus on becoming familiar with the gymnastics equipment and learning the skills in a progressive manner.
All classes are held in four week increments

Floor Hockey will return in fall of 2023!
This program is for boys and girls ages 6-12 who have an interest in hockey. Sticks will be provided for all participants. Just come ready to learn and play floor hockey!

Swimming Lessons
Our swim lesson sessions run for 4 weeks and meet once a week for 30 minutes per session.
The cost of swim lessons are $28 for YMCA members and $50 for community members.
Parent & Child classes – 4 weeks with recurring sessions. The cost is also $28 for YMCA members and $50 for community members.Swim lesson class schedules vary from session to session.

Water Discovery/Acclimation (ages 3 mo. – 3 yrs)
Accompanied by a parent, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills through fun and confidence-building experiences, while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision. Each child must have one parent or guardian present in the water for this class.
Swim Stages:
Stage 1: Water Acclimation
Skill Level: Beginner
Preschool – This class increases comfort with underwater exploration. Students learn basic-life saving skills with the assistant of a flotation device.
School Age – This class encourages forward movement in water and basic self-rescue skills performed independently.
Stage 2 : Water Movement
Skill Level Advanced Beginner
Preschool – This class encourages forward movement in the water. Students perform skills taught in Stage 1 for further distances and independently.
School Age – This class works on the development of intermediate self-rescue skills. Students work on swimming longer distances, treading in deep water and rotary breathing.
Stage 3: Water Stamina
Skill Level: Intermediate
Preschool – Students develop intermediate self-rescue skills performed at longer distances than in the previous stage. Students are introduced to rotary breathing and treading in deep water. All skills are performed independently.
School Age – Introduces stroke technique with freestyle and backstroke, kick for butterfly and breaststroke and diving. Students also work on endurance by swimming longer distances.
Stage 4: Stroke Introduction
Skill Level: Advanced
Preschool – Introduces stroke technique with freestyle and backstroke. Students are introduced to butterfly and breaststroke kick and diving. All skills are performed independently.
School Age – Refines stroke technique on all competitive strokes. Introduces the arm movement of butterfly and breaststroke, diving and flip turns. Students improve on endurance and stamina by swimming longer distances.

All private lesson inquiries must go through our Aquatic Director, Casey caseyd@uniontownymca.org. Private lessons are scheduled based on instructor availability – an inquiry does not guarantee private lessons.
6-lesson package procedure:
After scheduling with Casey, sign up at front desk and receive a punch card and lesson tracker form. Lesson tracker forms must be signed off by the swim instructor and parent/guardian after each lesson. Swim instructor will hold on to the tracker form until all lessons are completed. Both punch card and lesson tracker are to be turned into the Aquatic Director once all 6 lessons are completed.
Placement Testing
Placement tests rarely take more than 10 minutes and are done by our certified water safety instructors. Call 724.438.2584 for an appointment.
