Inspiration from your YMCA instructors:
What Brynn Cunningham did today...

Morning: 90 minute Complete & Balanced Yoga Flow.

Afternoon: 9.55 mile peaceful, quiet trail run in 2:00:27 with an average pace of 12:37/mile and 1,968 feet of elevation gain at Quebec Run on my two favorite trails (Whitetail and Long Run). Nature + Running in the Woods + Solitude = ultimate happiness trifecta 🙂

Find your ultimate happiness. Stay active. Stay Healthy. Stay safe.

Swim Starters – Ages 6 months to 3 years; stages A-B (Formerly Parent/Child)

Accompanied by a parent, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills through fun and confidence-building experiences, while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision. Each child must have one parent or guardian present in the water for this Class.

Pre-School Swim Lessons – Ages 3-5 years; stages 1-4

Students learn personal water safety and achieve basic swimming competency by learning two benchmark skills:

Swim, float, swim where swimmers learn a sequence to front glide, roll, back float, roll, front glide, and exit

Jump, push, turn, grab where swimmers learn a sequence to jump into the water, push off the bottom of the pool, turn toward the edge of the pool, and grab the edge of the pool

Preschool swim classes are:

Swim Basics 1-2 – Water Acclimation (Beginner level, formerly called Pike)

Swim Basics 1 and 2 increases comfort with underwater exploration and introduces basic self-rescue skills performed with assistance and independently. The classes encourage forward movement in the water.

Swim Basics 3 – (Advanced Beginner Level, formerly called Eel/Ray)

Swim Basics 3 develops intermediate self-rescue skills performed at longer distances than in previous stages.

Swim Strokes 4 – (Intermediate Level, formerly called Starfish)

Swim Strokes 4 introduces basic stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and reinforces water safety through treading water and elementary backstroke.

Progressive School Age Swim Lessons -Ages 6-12 years; stages 1-6

Swim Basics 1-3 (Beginner, formerly called Pollywog/Guppy)

Swim Basics 1-3 helps participants feel comfortable in the water. Doggy paddle, with or without a bubble for support, flutter kick, front and back float, and rhythmic breathing are taught. Swimmers develop intermediate self-rescue skills.

Swim Strokes 4 (Advanced Beginner, formerly called Minnow)

Swim Strokes 4 introduces basic stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and reinforces water safety through treading water and elementary backstroke.

Swim Strokes 5-6 (Advanced, formerly called Fish/Flying Fish)

Swim Strokes 5-6 refines stroke technique on all major competitive strokes and encourages swimming as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Teen-Adult (ages 13 and older; Stages 1-6)

Classes are designed to progress the student through the skills of swimming. Each person will develop at their own pace.
